Earle, Jr. Rice
Earle Wilmont Rice Jr., born in 1928, served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1948 to 1957, where he earned a Purple Heart, and later worked as a designer, technical writer, and senior design engineer in the aerospace, electronics, and nuclear industries from 1960 to 1993 before becoming a freelance writer. He is the author of numerous nonfiction history books for young adults, focusing on military subjects like battles and generals, as well as historical figures and events from the Salem witch trials to explorers like Sir Francis Drake and Erik the Red.
