E W F Tomlin

Eric Walter Frederick Tomlin (1914–1988) was a British writer, philosopher, and administrator educated at Brasenose College, Oxford, who joined the British Council and served in Iraq before heading its operations in Japan from 1961 to 1967. He was appointed OBE in 1959 and raised to CBE in 1965, and authored works including 'The Last Country: My Years in Japan,' studies on Wyndham Lewis and T.S. Eliot, and 'The Great Philosophers of the Western World.'
