E. Haugen

Einar Ingvald Haugen was a Norwegian-American linguist and writer renowned for his influential contributions to American sociolinguistics, Norwegian-American studies, and Old Norse studies. He served as a professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Harvard University, and held presidencies in the Linguistic Society of America, the American Dialect Society, and the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study.
