E F (Edward Frederic) Benson
Edward Frederic Benson (1867–1940) was a prolific British author best known for his Mapp & Lucia series of satirical novels published in the 1920s and 1930s. Son of Edward White Benson, Archbishop of Canterbury, he debuted with the scandalous success Dodo in 1893 and wrote over 100 books across genres including ghost stories, biographies, and histories. He served as Mayor of Rye from 1934 to 1937.
