E F Benson

E. F. Benson (Edward Frederic Benson) was a prolific English author best known for his satirical 'Mapp and Lucia' series, which humorously depicts the social battles of two genteel ladies in Edwardian England. He also wrote numerous novels, ghost stories, biographies, and reminiscences, often exploring themes of the supernatural and the quirks of British society. Benson lived in Rye, where he served as mayor three times, and his works remain celebrated for their wit and urbane charm.
