E B White
E.B. White (1899-1985) was an American essayist, author, and literary stylist whose eloquent prose appealed to readers of all ages. He joined The New Yorker magazine in 1927 as a writer and contributing editor, a position he held for the rest of his career. White is best known for his beloved children's classics Stuart Little (1945), Charlotte's Web (1952), and The Trumpet of the Swan (1970), and he revised William Strunk Jr.'s The Elements of Style in 1959, which became a standard style manual for writers.
