E. Arnold

Sir Edwin Arnold (1832–1904) was an English poet and journalist best known for his epic poem The Light of Asia (1879), which describes the life and teachings of the Buddha in blank verse. Educated at King's School, Rochester, University College London, and Oxford, he worked as a schoolmaster, principal of Deccan College in India, and editor at The Daily Telegraph. His works often explored Eastern religions, including Pearls of the Faith on Islam and translations like the Bhagavad Gita, and he advocated for vegetarianism.
