Drewery

Melanie Drewery is an award-winning New Zealand author born in Palmerston North in 1970, of Māori descent (Ngāti Māhanga) with Italian and English heritage. She has been a professional writer since 1998, primarily writing children's picture books that incorporate tikanga Māori in a gentle and inclusive way. In addition to her writing career, she works as an illustrator, potter, and painter, and has been based in Nelson for many years.
