Dr. Mario O. Laplume, born in Montevideo, Uruguay, emigrated due to political reasons to complete medical school in Argentina, graduating in 1981 before moving to the USA for neurology training and settling in Miami as a neurologist and later medical consultant.[3][2] He earned Master's and Doctoral degrees in Health Policy and Management from Columbia University in 1997 and 2008, and has authored works like 'Emotional Frustration: The Hushed Plague,' while blogging and podcasting on health and literary topics.[3][2][6]
