Douglas Hall

Douglas John Hall was a Canadian theologian and Professor Emeritus at McGill University's Faculty of Religious Studies, known for pioneering the Theology of the Cross and bringing a uniquely Canadian contextual approach to theology. He studied under renowned theologians Reinhold Niebuhr and Paul Tillich at Union Theological Seminary and was a prolific author who examined Christian beliefs through the lens of North American cultural and historical experience. Passionate about social justice and environmental ethics, he was one of the most important North American Protestant theologians of the past 50 years.
