Douglas Florian
Douglas Florian is an artist, poet, and author-illustrator of over 50 children's poetry books, known for his humorous, nature-themed works featuring wordplay, collage, watercolor, and gouache illustrations on primed paper bags. Born and raised in New York City to an artist father and avid reader mother, he was educated at Queens College and the School of Visual Arts, worked as a cartoonist for The New Yorker, and began creating children's books in the 1980s after being inspired by a poetry anthology. He lives in New York City with his wife Marie and five children.
