Dorothee Soelle
Dorothee Steffensky-Sölle (née Nipperdey; 1929–2003) was a prominent German Lutheran liberation theologian, feminist thinker, and author who coined the term 'Christofascism' to critique Christian fundamentalism. Shaped by her experiences during the Nazi era and the Holocaust in Cologne, she developed a 'mysticism of resistance' that intertwined spirituality with political activism against oppression, emphasizing solidarity with the suffering. She taught at Union Theological Seminary in New York and authored influential works like Suffering, The Silent Cry, and her autobiography Against the Wind.
