Derek Smith

Derek Smith (1943–) is an English author, gardener, and book publisher who writes under two names. Under the name DH Smith, he writes crime and mystery fiction featuring the character Jack Bell in the Jack of All Trades series. Under his own name, Derek Smith has written fantasy, short stories, poetry for adults, and children's books, earning recognition including the Pick of the Year award from the Federation for Children's Book Groups in 1996 and the David Thomas Prize for best self-published children's book in 1999.
