Dennis J. Pogue

Dennis J. Pogue, Ph.D., is an Associate Research Professor in Historic Preservation at the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation with over 40 years of experience as an educator, archaeologist, and historic preservationist in Maryland and Virginia[1]. He holds a Doctorate in Anthropology with an emphasis in historical archaeology from The American University in Washington, DC[1]. His work includes efforts to identify and document the diminishing number of surviving homes of the enslaved in the American South, particularly in Virginia[2].
