Deirdre Brennan
Deirdre Brennan (born 1934) is an Irish bilingual writer known for her poetry, plays, short stories, and translations in both Irish and English. Born in Dublin, she grew up in County Tipperary, studied English and Latin at University College Dublin, and later taught at St Patrick's College in Carlow after moving there in 1965. She has published sixteen poetry collections, winning awards like the Oireachtas Prize for *Ag Mealladh Réalta* and the 2023 Farmgate Café National Poetry Award for *Medea's Cauldron*, along with short story collections such as *An Banana Bean Sí agus Scéalta Eile* (2009) and *Staying Thin for Daddy* (2014).
