Deceased Axel Olrik

Axel Olrik (1864–1917) was a Danish folklorist and scholar of medieval historiography, recognized as a pioneer in the methodical study of oral narrative.[1] Born in Frederiksberg to artist Henrik Olrik, he developed key principles for analyzing oral traditions, including 'epic laws' and theories of transmission.[1]
