Deborah Heiligman

Deborah Heiligman is an American author of books for children and young adults, specializing in both fiction and nonfiction ranging from picture books to young adult novels.[2] Born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania, she graduated from Brown University in 1980 with a degree in religious studies and began her writing career at Scholastic News Explorer before becoming a freelance writer after having two children.[1][2] She has published over 32 books, including acclaimed titles like Charles and Emma: The Darwins' Leap of Faith, and her works have received awards such as the YALSA Excellence in Nonfiction and Printz Honor.[3][7]
