Deborah Ellis
Deborah Ellis is a Canadian fiction writer, feminist, and peace activist born August 7, 1960, best known for her international bestseller The Breadwinner and the award-winning Breadwinner Trilogy about girls living under the Taliban regime. Her work focuses on the experiences of persecuted and marginalized children worldwide, drawing from her extensive travels to refugee camps, conflict zones, and regions affected by AIDS. She has donated over one million dollars in royalties to charitable causes supporting children and has received numerous literary awards including the Governor General's Literary Award and the Order of Canada.
