Dawoud Bey

Dawoud Bey (born David Edward Smikle; November 25, 1953) is an American photographer, artist, and educator renowned for his large-scale portraits and candid street photographs of everyday Black American life and marginalized subjects. He was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2017 and is regarded as one of the most innovative and influential photographers of his generation. Bey currently serves as a professor of photography at Columbia College Chicago.
