David Wilson-Barker
Sir David Wilson-Barker (1858-1941) was a British naturalist, merchant mariner, and Royal Navy Reserve officer who joined the Royal Navy Reserve in 1873 after education on HMS Worcester and served with R & H Green, Blackwall Line for eight years.[1][2] He commanded the Thames Nautical Training College's training ship H.M.S. Worcester, traveled extensively including to Australia, Brazil, the Persian Gulf, and Massawa, and pursued interests in nature and meteorology.[1] A biography, 'A Naturalist at Sea,' detailing his life was written by George Seaver in 1942.[1][5]
