David W. Johnson
David W. Johnson (born 1940) is a social psychologist specializing in cooperative, competitive, and individualistic efforts, constructive controversy, conflict resolution, peer mediation, and experiential learning for interpersonal and small group skills. He has authored over 33 books on cooperative learning, translated into 20 languages and applied worldwide, particularly to improve educational practices. His theory of constructive conflict, first published in 1970, was refined in subsequent works including 'Creative Conflict' (1987) and 'Teaching Students to Be Peacemakers' (1991).
