David Thistlewood

David Thistlewood was a British art historian and critic, best known for his biographical and critical work on Herbert Read, including the book 'Herbert Read: Formlessness and Form' (1984). He served as Director of the Master of Design Programme at the University of Liverpool and contributed significantly to the study of British art education from 1850-1950. He studied at Leeds College of Art, earning a National Diploma in Design (Fine Art) in 1964, and authored works on art and design education such as 'Histories of Art and Design Education: Cole to Coldstream'.
