David Suzuki

David Takayoshi Suzuki (born March 24, 1936) is a Canadian academic, science broadcaster, author, and environmental activist of Japanese descent, known for hosting CBC's The Nature of Things since 1979 and co-founding the David Suzuki Foundation in 1990 to promote sustainability and conservation.[2][5][6] His family was interned during World War II, and he earned a PhD in Zoology from the University of Chicago in 1961, later becoming a professor of genetics at the University of British Columbia until 2001.[2][5] Suzuki has authored over 50 books and received numerous awards, including the Right Livelihood Award in 2009.[4][6]
