David Starr Jordan
David Starr Jordan (1851–1931) was the founding president of Stanford University and one of the foremost American ichthyologists of his time. Prior to leading Stanford from 1891 to 1913, he served as president of Indiana University. He was also a naturalist and educator, though his legacy is complicated by his prominent role in the American eugenics movement.
