David Simon
David Simon is an American journalist, author, and television producer best known as the creator of the critically acclaimed HBO series The Wire (2002–2008). A former crime reporter for the Baltimore Sun, he authored the narrative nonfiction books Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets (1991) and co-authored The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner-City Neighborhood (1997), both adapted into television productions. He was selected as a MacArthur Fellow in 2010 and is recognized for crafting richly textured narratives that explore urban America's complex social realities.
