David Shannon
David Shannon is an American writer and illustrator of children's books, born in Washington, DC in 1959 and raised in Spokane, Washington. He began drawing young, writing and illustrating his first book at age five, graduated from Art Center College of Design, and after working as an editorial illustrator in New York City, published his first self-written book How Georgie Radbourn Saved Baseball in 1993. His semi-autobiographical No, David! earned a Caldecott Honor in 1999, and he has since created over 40 award-winning books while living in Los Angeles.
