David S. Moore
David Sheldon Moore is an American statistician renowned for his leadership in statistics education over many decades. He authored influential textbooks such as *Introduction to the Practice of Statistics* with George P. McCabe, *An Introduction to the Basic Practice of Statistics*, and *Statistics: Concepts and Controversies*, using only high school algebra. A retired Shanti S. Gupta Distinguished Professor of Statistics, Emeritus at Purdue University (2004), he earned his A.B. from Princeton University and Ph.D. from Cornell University in mathematics, and conducted research in asymptotic theory of robust and nonparametric statistics.[1]
