David Quammen
David Quammen is an American writer and science communicator born in Cincinnati, Ohio, who began his career as a novelist before transitioning to nonfiction science writing. He is best known for his work as a columnist for Outside Magazine (1981-1996) and as a Contributing Writer for National Geographic, having authored eighteen books on topics including evolution, disease, biogeography, and the COVID-19 pandemic. His acclaimed work has earned him three National Magazine Awards, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Lannan Literary Award.
