David L Andrews

David L. Andrews is a UK-American cultural studies scholar born and raised in South-East London, England, educated at the College of St. Mark & St. John (B.Ed Hons) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (M.S. and Ph.D.). He taught at the University of Memphis prior to 2001 and has since been a Professor in the Physical Cultural Studies research group in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Maryland, where he also affiliates with American Studies and Sociology. His research focuses on physical cultural studies, sociology of sport, cultural studies, sport and social/cultural theory, and sport and politics, analyzing sport in relation to cultural, political, economic, and technological forces.
