David Kipnis
David Morris Kipnis (1927-2014) was an American endocrinologist renowned for discovering the 'incretin effect,' which demonstrated how oral carbohydrates trigger gut hormones to promote insulin release, laying the foundation for new diabetes treatments.[2] Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he earned his MD from the University of Maryland, trained at Johns Hopkins, Duke, and the University of Maryland, and joined Washington University in St. Louis in 1955, later serving as Chairman of the Department of Medicine from 1973 to 1992.[1][3][4]
