David Jones

David Jones (1895–1974) was a British painter, modernist poet, and graphic artist renowned for his complex poetic prose works of epic scope, particularly In Parenthesis and The Anathemata. Born in Brockley, Kent, to a Welsh father and English mother, he served in World War I and is increasingly regarded as an innovative poet who extended the techniques of literary modernism. His work explores themes of cultural disinheritance and the sacramental nature of art, drawing deeply on his Welsh heritage and Latin and Old English traditions.
