David G Hartwell

David Geddes Hartwell (1941-2016) was an acclaimed American editor, publisher, and critic renowned for his extensive work in science fiction and fantasy literature. He edited thousands of novels for publishers like Pocket Books, Signet, and Tor Books, including Star Trek tie-ins and award-winning anthologies that earned him multiple Hugo and World Fantasy Awards. Hartwell, known for his encyclopedic knowledge of the genre, died at age 74 following a fall that caused severe head trauma.
