David F. Armstrong
David F. Armstrong, born in 1949 in Haverhill, Massachusetts, is an anthropologist specializing in the role of gesture in human communication evolution and sign language studies. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and served as director of budget and editor of Sign Language Studies at Gallaudet University. Armstrong has authored books like Original Signs, exploring language as a multichannel activity, and The History of Gallaudet University.
