David Drake
David A. Drake (1945-2023) was an American science fiction and fantasy author, Vietnam War veteran, and former lawyer best known for his military science fiction series Hammer's Slammers. Born in Dubuque, Iowa, he graduated from the University of Iowa in 1967, served as an interrogator with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam and Cambodia from 1969-1971, practiced law in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and became a full-time writer in 1981 after publishing his first book in 1979.[1][2][3]
