Dave Sargent
Dave Sargent was a Vietnam veteran, farmer, and prolific author who, alongside his wife Pat, wrote and published over 400 children's books including titles like 'Spike, the Black Wolf' and 'Callie', while also penning his autobiography 'An Uphill Climb' and a book on dyslexia. Born in northwest Arkansas in 1941, he overcame dyslexia, served in the Army with paratrooper training, and later built successful businesses in construction and dairy before dedicating over 25 years to promoting reading and writing in schools. Sargent passed away on January 17, 2024, leaving a legacy of storytelling that captivated children and adults alike.
