Daniel Webster

Daniel Webster (1782–1852) was an American lawyer, statesman, and orator who represented New Hampshire and Massachusetts in Congress, serving in the U.S. House, Senate, and as Secretary of State under Presidents Harrison, Tyler, and Fillmore. Renowned for his legal arguments before the Supreme Court in cases like Dartmouth College v. Woodward and his famous Second Reply to Hayne speech defending national union, he was a leading Federalist and Whig figure opposing nullification and Jacksonian policies.[1][2][4]
