Daniel Patrick Moynihan
Daniel Patrick Moynihan was an American sociologist, diplomat, and four-term U.S. Senator from New York who served in four successive presidential administrations. He was a prominent public intellectual known for using scholarship to influence social policy, notably through his work on the War on Poverty and his authorship of the Moynihan Report. Moynihan held ambassadorships to India and the United Nations before his long legislative career, which ended in 2001.
