Daniel J. Elazar

Daniel Judah Elazar (August 25, 1934 – December 2, 1999) was a prominent political scientist known for his seminal studies of the political culture of U.S. states and his expertise on federalism, Jewish communal affairs, and Jewish political thought[1][3]. He served as a professor of political science at Temple University in Pennsylvania and Bar-Ilan University in Israel, where he founded the Center for the Study of Federalism and the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs[1][6]. Elazar authored more than 60 books, including the four-volume work *The Covenant Tradition in Politics*, and was recognized as an authority on Israel and world Jewry[3][5].
