She won her first writing contest at age 10 and has received awards including the Edgar Award for Best YA Mystery and the Helen Keating Ott Award. She lives in rural Ohio with her family, horses, dogs, and cats, and her novel My Boyfriends' Dogs was adapted into a Hallmark movie.
