Dan Simmons
Dan Simmons was an American author born in Peoria, Illinois, best known for his Hugo Award-winning science fiction series the Hyperion Cantos and the Ilium/Olympos cycle. Before becoming a full-time novelist in 1987, he worked as an elementary school teacher for eighteen years. He was a versatile and acclaimed writer across science fiction, horror, and fantasy genres, with numerous award nominations and wins including the Hugo, Nebula, Bram Stoker, and World Fantasy Awards.
