Dan Gutman is an American author born on October 19, 1955, in New York City, who began his career writing about video games and humor before transitioning to children's fiction, producing over 190 books including the My Weird School series, Baseball Card Adventures, and The Genius Files.[1][2][4] A graduate of Rutgers University with a psychology degree, he was inspired to write for kids after his son's birth and targets reluctant readers to excite them about reading.[4][5][8]
