Dan Gookin
Dan Gookin is a technology author best known as the founder of the For Dummies book series, having written the original DOS For Dummies in 1991[1]. He has authored over 180 books on technology with more than 12 million copies in print translated into 32 languages[1]. Beyond his writing career, Gookin has been involved in local politics in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, serving on the city council before being elected mayor in 2025[1].
