Dacia Maraini

Dacia Maraini is an Italian writer born on November 13, 1936, in Fiesole, Tuscany, renowned for her works focusing on women's issues, translated into over 30 languages.[1][2] She published her debut novel La vacanza in 1962, which became a bestseller, and has since written numerous novels, plays, and memoirs, including The Silent Duchess and Bagheria, while remaining active into her later years.[1][3] Her family moved to Japan in 1938 due to her father's ethnological studies, where they endured internment in a concentration camp during World War II.[3][5]
