D. Caroline Coile, PhD, is an award-winning author and dog expert who has written 34 books about dogs, including the top-selling Barron's Encyclopedia of Dog Breeds, and hundreds of magazine and scientific articles.[1][2][3] She holds a PhD in psychology with an emphasis on neuroscience from Florida State University, with research focused on canine behavior, senses, genetics, and neuropsychology.[1] Inducted into the Dog Writers Association of America Hall of Fame, she has 48 years of experience in dog sports and received numerous awards such as the Maxwell Award and AKC Canine Health Foundation Award.[1][5]
