D C Thomson

David Couper Thomson (1861-1954) was a Scottish newspaper proprietor and founder of the publishing company D. C. Thomson & Co. Ltd. in 1905, based in Dundee. He expanded the family business from shipping and woollen manufacturing into media, acquiring newspapers like the Dundee Courier and John Leng Company, and establishing a legacy in comics and journalism. The company became known for titles such as The Beano, The Dandy, and The Sunday Post, though it faced controversies over union policies and conservative affiliations.
