Cyril Watters
Cyril Watters (1907-1984) was a British composer, arranger, and pianist renowned as one of the finest 'back-room boys' in London's music business, with his music heard by millions through productions and broadcasts. Beginning as a disciple of Billy Mayerl, he composed syncopated piano pieces, won prizes like first place in the All British Song competition with 'She’s my slip of a Girl', and worked as an arranger for Laurence Wright and Boosey & Hawkes, creating hits such as 'Piccadilly Spree' and 'Morning Calm' used in BBC Test Card. He received an Ivor Novello Award in 1960 for his contributions to light music.
