Cornelia Meigs

Cornelia Lynde Meigs (1884–1973) was an American writer of fiction and biography for children, as well as an English teacher, historian, and critic of children's literature. She won the 1934 Newbery Medal for her biography of Louisa May Alcott, *Invincible Louisa*, and also authored three Newbery Honor Books. Her career spanned 50 years, producing over 30 children's books including historical fiction, biographies, short stories, and dramas.
