Constant De Koninck
Charles De Koninck (also known as Constant De Koninck) was a Belgian-Canadian Thomist philosopher and theologian who directed the Department of Philosophy at Université Laval in Quebec, influencing Catholic philosophy across Canada and the United States. Born in Belgium, his family emigrated to the US where he spent time in Detroit before returning to Belgium for studies in science, literature, and Thomistic philosophy, earning a doctorate from Louvain in 1934. He joined Laval as a professor of natural philosophy, served as dean, and wrote extensively on philosophy of nature, science, mathematics, political philosophy, and theology, notably defending the primacy of the common good.
