Clyde Robert Bulla
Clyde Robert Bulla (1914–2007) was an American children's author born on a farm near King City, Missouri, who attended a one-room schoolhouse where he discovered his passion for writing stories and verses. He published his first book, The Donkey Cart, in 1946 after working as a newspaper columnist and typesetter, going on to write over 60 books including historical fiction, nonfiction, and tales for middle-grade readers. Bulla received the Southern California Council on Children's Literature Award and detailed his early life in his 1985 autobiography, A Grain of Wheat: A Writer Begins.
