Clarence E Mulford
Clarence E. Mulford was an American author born in Streator, Illinois, best known for creating the iconic Western character Hopalong Cassidy, whose adventures he chronicled in numerous novels and short stories starting with 'The Bar 20' in 1911. Initially working as a reporter and civil servant in Brooklyn, he retired to Fryeburg, Maine, in 1926 and continued writing until his death. His creation inspired films, comic books, and a television series.
